Removing backups
How to remove backups that you've been notified about
If you have received an automated notification from us regarding backups found which need to be removed we kindly ask that you do one of the following:
- Remove the backups and disable the plugin.
- Keep the plugin enabled, but remove the backups you have been notified about.
As we automatically backup your cPanel accounts in the background, additional cPanel and/or Wordpress backups are not useful, and only serve to consume your accounts disk space.
Wordpress
To remove Wordpress backups you should be able to login to your Wordpress admin area, navigate to the plugin in question, then select the backups and delete them.
Alternatively you can login to your cPanel account, navigate to the 'File Manager' and then delete the backups from the following locations:
- updraft:
/wp-content/updraft/
- ai1wm-backups:
/wp-content/ai1wm-backups/
- backups-dup-pro:
/wp-content/backups-dup-pro/
- backups-dup-lite:
/wp-content/backups-dup-lite/
- backupbuddy_backups:
/wp-content/uploads
cPanel
To remove cPanel backups you can login to your cPanel account, navigate to the 'File Manager' and you should see the backups listed inside of your home directory. They will have a name such as: backup-6.3.2020_08-59-26_test_user.tar.gz
These should be deleted.
If you're struggling to find backups that you've been notified about, or have any further questions please don't hesitate to raise a support ticket with our team and we'll be happy to help.
