Preparation
Before beginning the transfer process:
- Ensure your domain contact details are up-to-date with your current provider
- Check that your domain is not transfer locked
Step-by-Step Transfer Process
1. Request an authorisation code
Estimated time: 1-2 business days
- Identify your current domain provider (if unknown, check your last billing statement or contact Nominet)
- Contact your current domain provider via their preferred method (usually email or support ticket)
- Request the authorisation code (also known as EPP code) for your .gov.uk domain
- Note: Some providers may require additional verification steps
2. Raise a transfer ticket with Krystal
Estimated time: 15-30 minutes to submit; 1-3 business days for processing
Once you have the authorisation code:
- Log in to your Krystal account at https://krystal.io/client
- Navigate to the 'Support' section
- Click 'Open Ticket'
- Select 'Tech Support' as the ticket type
- Provide the following details in your ticket:
- The authorisation code you received
- Your complete .gov.uk domain name
3. Await Processing
Estimated time: 1-2 business days - Our team will initiate the transfer process
- Krystal will handle communications with Nominet (the .uk registry) to complete the transfer
4. Confirmation
Once the transfer is complete, you'll receive a confirmation email from Krystal.
Log in to your Krystal account to verify the domain is listed and the expiration date has been updated
