How we define a Unique visitor

Onyx plans differ from standard shared hosting in a few key ways.
One of the most important factors is how Onyx differs when it comes to resource allocation.
Resources and unique visitors:
Most web hosts will use resource allocation as the primary method of both pricing and differentiating their services, however, Onyx doesn't use traditional resource allocation methods. Rather, your available resources will scale to match the site's traffic and current use. This is where unique visitor counts come in.
We differentiate our onyx plans based on the number of unique visitors the site receives. We will determine the number of unique visitors as one unique IP/User-Agent combination per day.
Practical examples:
Example 1 | A visitor to an Onyx site visits their site several times a day, on the same internet connection and device each time. This would count as one visit per day. |
Example 2 | A visitor to an Onyx site visits the site several times a day, on the same internet connection, but using both their mobile and desktop PC. This would count as two visits per day. |
Example 3 | A visitor to an Onyx site visits the site multiple times a day, on the same internet connection, but using several different internet connections. This would count as one visit per connection being used. This logic also works for bots, so if GoogleBot indexes the site, for example, it'll only count as one visit even if their crawler visits every page on your site. |
A note regarding comparisons
Just a quick note to bear in mind that our statistics may not match up to the statistics provided by external tools such as Google Analytics. Different statistics tools use different ways of counting visits (e.g. Google Analytics excludes bots), so they're not directly comparable.
