Transferring a .sch.uk Domain to Krystal

Overview

.sch.uk domains can be transferred to Krystal completely free of charge. These domains are managed by Nominet and use an IPS Tag system for transfers rather than authorisation codes (EPP codes).

Our IPS Tag is: KRYSTAL

How to Transfer Your .sch.uk Domain

  1. Update the IPS Tag with your current registrar
Log in to your current domain registrar and change the IPS Tag on your .sch.uk domain to KRYSTAL. If you're not sure how to do this, your current registrar's support team should be able to help.
  2. Raise a support ticket with us
Once the IPS Tag has been changed, open a support ticket and let us know the domain name you'd like to transfer across. We'll then raise the order on our end to complete the transfer.
  3. We'll take it from there
Once we've raised the order, the domain will be added to your Krystal account. We'll let you know as soon as everything is in place.

Good to Know

Cost: Transferring a .sch.uk domain to Krystal is completely free.

Downtime: Changing the IPS Tag doesn't affect your website or email services. As long as your DNS records stay the same, everything will continue to work as normal throughout the transfer.

DNS: If your domain is already pointing to Krystal's nameservers, no DNS changes are needed. If your DNS is currently hosted with your existing registrar, it's worth checking whether they'll keep the DNS zone active after the IPS Tag is changed. Some providers will delete the zone once the domain leaves their system, which could cause downtime for your website and email. If you're unsure, we'd recommend taking a note of your existing DNS records before starting the transfer so we can get them set up on our end straight away.
